The history of the truck.

The 1974 GMC Utility Van was retrofitted and customized into a sort of “greenhouse on wheels” by artist Jason Verbeek. He used the truck as a means to promote and sell his metal sculpture art, as well as share positive messaging about the environment and sell plants. After hearing about our plans to create a plant truck that would serve as a mobile garden center and provide access to under-served communities, Jason generously donated the truck to the Foundation. Plant Truck Chicago was born and the adventure began!

Plant Truck Chicago inspires people by what they see, educates people on how and what they can do in their own green space, and motivates people to incorporate more green into their environment.

    Plant Truck Chicago is a mobile plant shop that visits communities in and around Chicagoland. We pop-up at community events, farmers markets, and individual businesses. All proceeds from the plant sales go directly to funding the mission of the Get Growing Foundation.
